I finally floated down the Colorado River from the Glen Canyon Dam to Lee’s Ferry. Hard to believe that it took me so long to do this. It is a beautiful part of the river with lots of Goldeneyes, Mallards, Canyon Wrens, and even some Say’s Phoebe. It’s also very cool to see the California Condors at the Navajo Bridge. Scooting around Horseshoe Bend and seeing all of the people looking at it from the top was a unique experience. Camping in the canyon is always nice even if there are more people around than I would prefer. The wine selection for the night was Black Box Cabernet Sauvignon since we wanted to avoid glass in this pristine area. This is not an exceptional wine, but it has the basics for a Cab. Some dark fruit, oak, body, decent tannins, and acidity make this an acceptable wine for this situation. Context counts as well, and it was nice to sip along the Colorado.
